WordPress Maintenance Mode

Have you ever seen this when trying to open your WordPress site?

Briefly unavailable for scheduled maintenance. Check back in a minute.

Well if you have, chances are you’ve been updating plugins and may now be in a state of shock as to why your website is dead.

Don’t worry, this is super simple to fix. Your website is stuck in Maintenance Mode – see here for much more details, I’m just going to give you the quick and dirty fix.

Either use Terminal (Mac – you are using a Mac right? RIGHT?) or your FTP client of choice to get into your site. At the root of the site you’ll see a file called .maintenance which needs to be removed.

Once removed, your site will be back up and running.
